You should know, that our mouth is a place full of bacteria. This is why keeping the mouth clean is so important. The food that you eat influences your teeth and gums. Eating food that contains a lot of sugar is considered detrimental.
It is important to brush your teeth at least twice a day, this is the first step in order to obtain proper oral hygiene. But brushing your teeth just isn’t enough for a perfect cleaning. Using a mouth wash is also recommended. This fluid can reach the places where your toothbrush can’t. The alcohol in it kills a lot of bacteria. Dental floss can also be used to clean the places where your toothbrush cannot reach. By flossing you can get rid of the plaque that is stuck between and around your teeth. It is really important to floss under the gum line too! So flossing is probably the most important thing you can do, to keep your gums healthy.
The bacteria stuck under the gum line can cause a lot of trouble. Gum diseases like periodontists and gingivitis are often a sign of improper or insufficient gum care. Keep in mind, that your gums are a very sensitive part of your mouth. Even if you floss, be careful and gentle on the gums. Bleeding gums can be a sign, that your flossing technique is too aggressive. However, it could also be normal if you are flossing for the first time. After a few days this won’t be a problem any more. Sore and swollen gums are probably a sign of a gum disease. In this case the best thing to do is to see a dentist right away!
Remember that by flossing every day you can lower the risk of gum disease. There are a lot of problems that can occur if you don’t take care of your gums properly. You can prevent bad breath, gum infection, and other gum problems by spending a few minutes on your teeth and gums. Keep in mind that having healthy gums means that you have one thing less to worry about. Don’t forget to visit your dentist and check your oral health twice a year.
