I Missed A Spot

Whitening the teeth is one of the most popular dental procedures today. Whether you choose to have it performed by a professional, who may choose laser or bleaching trays, or you opt for an at home teeth whitening kit, the results will be absolutely amazing. Nowadays, it seems everyone wants whiter teeth and a brighter smile. It has become so much easier for anyone who wishes, to flash their pearly whites, because treatment is more affordable than ever.

Have you ever wondered what active ingredient actually bleaches the teeth to a bright pearly shine? There are two; Hydrogen peroxide and Carbamide peroxide. The teeth whitening systems containing these are in percentages of 3%-22% for the Hydrogen peroxide, and 16%-44% for the Carbamide peroxide.

Of the over the counter at home teeth whitening products, there are several different methods of use. No matter what method you choose, be sure to brush and floss every day, especially prior to treatment.

First, is the tray-based teeth bleaching kits. This product instructs its users to squeeze a small amount of the gel into the tray included. This then is fitted over the teeth. Wipe off any gel which happens to ooze to the top around your gum line. You will need to hold the trays in place, and using one hand is fine. The treatment should take about 30 minutes to 1 hour to complete the process. When completed, remove the tray and rinse the gel from your mouth and teeth.

Next on the list of products, are the whitening strips, which some people prefer due to their convenience factor. Sometimes they are used in conjunction with the gel. The instructions are to press the strips to the upper and lower teeth until they feel secure. The strips are usually worn 30 minutes twice daily for up to 21 days. know that saliva can easily find its way beneath the whitening strips, and diluting their peroxide ingredient potency. Crest whitestrips, for example, contains 14% hydrogen peroxide and each strip is wide enough to cover up to six teeth.

Teeth whitening toothpastes are very popular of course. Most toothpastes contain abrasives such as calcium carbonate and baking soda. Brushing twice a day with toothpaste which contains peroxides, can harm your tooth enamel over time. It doesn’t matter what teeth whitening system you choose, using non-peroxide whitening toothpaste twice a day, can expend the bleaching interval, fight the bad breath, and keep your teeth whiten for long months.

Good Bye Yellow Teeth

One product that is fairly new is a whitening chewing gum. This is not only a very simple teeth brightener, but also works as a mouth freshener to fight bad breath too, and is believed to help prevent tooth decay. The gum is cheaper than most at home teeth whitening kits, and is more effective for those with mild stains from coffee or tea.

Another great teeth whitening products are pens. Some pens come with brush head, and some use foam-tip technique. These pens, such as Idol white, are very effective and easy to use. You can carry them wherever you go and use it everywhere after a meal for example.

It doesn’t matter which teeth whitening product you choose, your self esteem will vastly increase when your smile is bright, white, and beautiful. It is so simple to create a healthy and attractive look simply by applying the techniques of any one of the popular at home teeth whitening kits. Of course, nobody knows teeth as well as your dentist, so it is wise to get his opinion first before trying any whitening product.

Nice article, that’s why it’s always recommended that you use both toothpastes, the one your currently using for 24hr protection of your teeth and gums and the whitening solution for cosmetic reasons.
